Thanks for uploading File:Welcome banner made thru 3dtext2gif-dot-com.gif. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{self|cc-zero}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

File:Swastika ultra pride flag.webp has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

Vandalising images

[edit]

May I ask why you overwrote this complete drawing with a cropped version, thereby deleting the the caption from the image. Contrary to the publisher and artist's intention. You know that the correct way is to upload a cropped version. You know this because you? presumably had User:Abzeronow delete the protection on the file to do it. Broichmore (talk) 03:04, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's a little unclear what you're trying to say. What I understand from what you said, and what I have in response, is that in spite of the autograph being missing, the image is of far better quality and it's therefore worth overwriting JayCubby (talk) 03:22, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You have overwritten the caption. The new image is therefore a degrade on the original. This was a protected image, and the protection indicated the correct procedure to follow. Apologies for the typos. I'm going blind. Broichmore (talk) 03:43, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appeared to have cropped the base without knowing, it's Fixed now. Please do not accuse me of vandalizing images, since you have autopatrol all you need to do is re-add the border and maybe let me know. JayCubby (talk) 03:50, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank for fixing it. A major point, which I neglected to mention here, is that when you cropped off the integral caption you also cropped off part of the shading of the de minimis image. That in itself would have been reason enough not to have overwritten this image. This whole episode has been unfortuanate I agree. There are reasons for protection of images, all of them highlighted here. Broichmore (talk) 04:12, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Krd Have I confirmed authorship sufficiently or must I mail VRT? JayCubby (talk) 19:09, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I can't speak for Krd, but IMO it's probably ok now that you added author and source, although source should probably include the template "Own", if that's what the file actually is. The problem was that the file was missing author and source, and therefore it was missing *evidence* for the license claim. The absence of an indication that it was your own work implied that it might have been the work of someone else. Another thing is if you choose to place the license template in the permission field of the "Information" template, then the header "int:license-header" should probably not be included above an empty section. That was another problem initially. If a section "int:license-header" is included in the page, it should contain something. Krd had moved the license tag from the information template to the bottom section. Now that you readded it into the information template, the page currently includes the license tag twice. That doesn't hurt if that's how you really want it, or maybe you could leave it only where Krd chose to move it. Unless you had previously published the file somewhere or unless there's something that requires verification of your identity, an email to VRT would not add any useful information if it would merely repeat what you already wrote publicly in the description page. -- Asclepias (talk) 14:24, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for making the edits on File:Devout, Yemen (9849350914).jpg. I've fixed the cross links between it and the new File:Devout, Yemen (9849350914) (deJPG).jpg. Please take a look at both and you'll see how to link different versions of files. Also the new version was not uploaded from Flickr, so that tag shouldn't be on it. Instead use the source link to the original file here on Commons. --Cart (talk) 12:28, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
